An annotated bibliography is a little different than any other bibliography. An annotated bibliography consists of a list of the research done plus a little statement about the quality of the bibliography item at hand. When someone writes an annotated bibliography the person is usually in the process of doing the research. An annotated bibliography is usually written while in preparation of the paper. The annotated bibliography will give a professor a sense of where the research project is going.

An annotated bibliography is usually assigned early during a research project. When students need to write an annotated bibliography students are being pushed right along during the course to stay on track and have good time management. Developing good time management skills during a research project is very important. If a student does not have good time management skills during a research project the person can easily fall behind on the project. When a person falls behind on the research project the person can easily be tardy with the project.

Needing to write an annotated bibliography early during a research project will force a student to read the required amount of articles, books, or any other kind of research items necessary to write a well-researched paper early enough that if the research material is not useful the student can scrap the material and find other materials. Writing a research paper with well-planned and well researched materials is almost imperative to any research project. A well-planned research project will make the author appear credible.
